I am pleased Trump is out. I am also hoping the GOP retains the Senate. Why? because divided government can't get shit done. As in screw you over more than it already does.
My FAV is very excited about the results. She then said, "now we just need to get rid of the electoral college for a straight popular vote". My opinion is if we did that, the country would spit apart. All states/votes must believe that they are represented or we as the "United" States are done. Also, a straight popular vote would lead to a one-party state. And how is that working out for those living under one-party states now?

The Trump campaign still has a lot of debt. When you lose an election people don’t donate to your campaign. Trump people heavily soliciting money for legal expense. It will be interesting to see how much of the legal fund donations get diverted to addressing campaign debts.

I don't think that's true. If the voting system changes that may give one party an edge today. But over several years the parties will move. The party who has the advantage will move towards their extreme and the party that lost out will move towards the center. A democracy is in self balancing equilibrium if you look over a long enough period. At this macro level the parties will become what the electorate want.

I also happen to believe that Trump was what the country needed, even though I thoroughly detest him and I think he'll go down in history (50 years from now) as one of the worst presidents ever. His election was a reaction to things that needed addressing. Now that the country has taken its medicine it can get back to being healthy, hopefully with immunity against any future idiocies.

I think Trump did a good job identifying area that need to be changed through laws to limit the power of the executive branch.  We came very close to a dictatorship and it still could happen.

As to the voting in America, Is it really fair that California has the same number of Senators as Rhode Island or South Dakota?   People in those tiny states are over represented in the Senate while Cali, Texas, NY are shorted big time.  Since the Senate controls who gets on the Supreme Court, Liberal Californians get much less say than conservatives in all the tiny states on the make up of our Supreme Court.   Just an observation....
