Every politician lies at some point. We can agree on that. But Trump is a different, more dangerous kind of liar.

In the months leading up to the election, Trump primed his followers to distrust the election if he lost. He said over and over again that the only way he could lose would be if the election was rigged against him. When he actually did lose, he kept at it, attacking both Congress and the courts for not making things right.

Last weekend at CPAC Trump repeated his lies. He told the faithful that he might run in 2024 so he could win for a third time.

Trump is a danger to American democracy. Actually, since almost all the Republicans are on board with him, we can now say the Republican Party is a threat to American democracy.

That's not garden-variety lying by politicians. That's a party with a leader who wants to rule as a dictator.

Democracies don't continue in effect just because it's written down in the Constitution. Democracies depend on people acting in good faith to the rule of law and our democratic institutions. Trump and the Republicans will work to destroy those institutions if that's the only way they can hold on to power.

Your assertion that “Jewish is a religion not a race” is too simplistic. People are born Jewish and identify a being a Jew, more by ancestry and culture. Yes there is a Jewish religion. However, one can be an atheist and still be Jewish. You can’t say that about Christians.

There were a lot of white people that participated in the “Freedom Marches” and supportive of civil rights.

Abraham Lincoln strongly believed slavery was morally wrong. His views on racial equality are somewhat controversial. He freed the slaves. We can leave it at that.

First I’m not a “party loyalist.” I’m a longtime registered Republican. Lying Democrats do not cancel out lying Republicans like an algebra equation.

I don’t think the problem here is being blind to the facts. It is more a difference in the choice of narrative that we want to tell about the facts.

Uhm, stupid question. What does her being married to a "white guy" have to do with her talking about racism? I live here in CA. I was married to a white woman a long time ago. We took a trip back east. While driving through North Carolina I was stopped for being Black. How do I know this? Because when pulled over the officer came up, ask for my papers, then looked at her and asked if she was OK and there by her own free will. When she said yes, he put his hand on his gun and told her that if she was being held she's safe now and could step out of the car if she needed to. She told him she was my wife. The guy looked disgusted. He gave me back my license and told us to move along, he expected us to be out of his country by sundown.(No, I wasn't stupid enough to push it and ask why I was pulled over. I KNEW why.)


So, I could talk about systemic racism while being married to a white woman, so yeah, again, why does that matter?

Jewish is a religion not a race, many Christians were also involved in civil rights. Her husband is too young to be involved in the civil rights struggles. Abraham Lincoln was involved in the civil rights struggle, he was a Christian and a Republican.
